The Cheetah Experience, Bloemfontein

Cheetah and Lion Cubs at the Cheetah Experience in Bloemfontein, South AfricaThe Cheetah Experience is a NPO cheetah and wild cat sanctaury in Bloemfontein  which offers an unparalelled opportunity to see, touch, interact and learn about cheetahs, other Big Cats and other smaller African Cat species such the Serval and Rooikat (African Caracal).

The Sanctuary’s mission is to ”To promote and fund the conservation of the Cheetah and other endangered species through captive breeding, behavioural research and public awareness.”

Started on 2006 by a woman with a dream to do what she could to help save the critically endangered Cheetah, the Cheetah Experience has grown into a successful Cheetah breeding operation supported by tourism, donations and private funding initiatives such as ‘animal adoptions’.

In addition to cheetahs, the sanctuary now also houses lions, leopard, serval and rooikat. Special residents include two white lions and a black leopard. There are also a couple of Canadian timber wolves and a family of meerkats!

The sanctuary has a volunteer programme, and a variety of daily ‘tour packages’ ranging from 45min tours to whole day experiences.
