Southbroom Golf Course, South Coast, KwaZulu-Natal
Southbroom Golf Course is located in the charming upmarket village of Southbroom on the sub-tropical KwaZulu-Natal South Coast within the Hibiscus Coast area.
The course is an integral part of the village and except for the tropical palms and indigenous trees one could almost be in Britain. The course meanders past elegant coastal homes and is a stones throw away from the beach bordering the lush vegetation of the Federika Nature Reserve. The many dams and rivers add to the lush feel as well as offering a few interesting water hazards.
As the club members say “the course is not a breeze to play, especially on a windy day” and presents some interesting challenges even to accomplished golfers. Recently adjudged by Compleat Golfer to be the most popular club in KwaZulu-Natal, the course has been consistently improved since being established in 1938 and is in excellent condition.
The clubhouse facilities are impressive with an outstanding bar area, a tranquil lounge, a well-stocked pro shop and a beautiful patio with very pleasant views over the lush greenery, the beach and the Indian Ocean.
