San Lameer Golf Course, Southbroom, Durban South Coast
The San Lameer Golf Course is in the heart of a large nature conservation area situated on the lush, sub-tropical Durban South Coast. It is currently rated in the top 40 courses in South Africa. An amazing experience of nature awaits you with nearly 200 bird species, impala, bushbuck and reedbuck watching your game.
This parkland 18-hole course, designed by Peter Malkovich and Dale Hayes, is challenging but fun to play. Although only 6100m long this course is built on one of the last wetlands in South Africa and there are water hazards in abundance – bring more than enough balls!
‘It is easy to make a bogey, but pars are hard won. The experienced golfer will play San Lameer down the middle and have a good time. The young guns will probably take chances and be frustrated’ says Matkovich. To enjoy this well maintained course you will have to play conservative golf, straight down the middle, and stay out of trouble.
Directions: Heading south along the main highway between Durban & Port Edward, the course lies 3 km past Southbroom approximately 90min from Durban.
