Mountain Bike Trail, Oudsthoorn, Western Cape
This magical mountain biking trail is situated in Schoemanshoek at the African Inn, just outside Oudsthoorns’ CBD.
Cango MTB Park is nestled between the foothills of the Outeniqua and Swartberg mountains, on the R328 towards the Cango Caves.
Selected to represent SA MTB Team for World Champs, Matthys Beukes, one of South Africa’s foremost mountain biking pros, started building the mountain bike trails on his family property, Africa Inn, in 2005.
These exceptional single tracks are carved out of the Karoo koppies, which are not dusty as one would expect from the dry region. Instead you can enjoy a hard rocky surface, covered in the unique spectacular mix of mountain fynbos. The steep and craggy terrain makes for wonderful erosion-free trail building.
The trails cover 20 kms of un-groomed, yet tidy, clean cut terrain, catering for various fitness levels from the advanced routes to a kiddie track. Even though this is a Park, Matthys has kept a natural feel to the environment, making this a great place to test and improve on your performance.

Directions to Africa Inn from Oudsthoorn
In Oudtshoorn take the main road, Langenhoven Rd/Baron Van Reede St north towards the Swartberg Mountains. This street becomes the R328 road towards the Cango Caves and many other attractions. Cango Mountainbiking is at 9.6km from center of town on the right. Look out for an old sand stone building and mountain bikers flying through the Klein Karoo veldt.
