Mont-aux-Sources to Cathedral Peak hike, Drakensberg
This 5-day hike features some of the most dramatic scenery in the whole of the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park. The sheer beauty of the scenery on this hike make it one of the most popular multi-day trails in South Africa.
The first day’s hike takes hikers up a challenging chain-ladder to the top of the mighty Amphitheatre. From here, the route heads inland and along the escarpment, offering amazing views of the impressive vistas of buttresses and pinnacles that characterise the Drakensberg escarpment. The route then crosses the Senqu river, one of the source-rivers of the Orange river, and heads along the stunning Rockeries Pass, offering stunning views of all of the eight peaks of the Rockeries. On the final day, the route descends some 1500m along the Mlambonja Pass to the Cathedral Peak Hotel.
