Lutzville Winery, West Coast, South Africa
Lutzville Winery, situated on the banks of the mighty Olifants River, benefits from the unique local climate to nurture the foundation for their excellent grapes. Fresh Atlantic morning breezes roll in and cool down the vineyards. The hot sunny days and crisp evenings result in large temperature differences between day and night. Matched with ideal soils and diverse terroir, these micro climates create the ideal growing conditions. The grapes are the perfect ingredients for the superior aromas and flavours you experience in every bottle of Lutzville wine.
With access to over 100 different vineyard sites in the Lutzville Valley, the best grapes of each vintage are hand selected to ensure quality and consistency. From the vineyards to the winery, the utmost care is taken in making the wine. After gentle pressing, only the first press free run juice is used. Using selected yeasts, the white wines in the Lutzville range undergo cold fermentation to retain their purity and fruitiness while the reds undergo short oak maturation to enhance flavour and add complexity.
Lutzville caused a stir with their surprise, but well deserved inclusion, into the prestigious 2011 FNB Top 10 Sauvignon Blanc awards. Lutzville beat off competition from more prestigious wine estates to clinch an amazing Top 10 finish (out of 169 wines).
