Le Bonheur Crocodile Farm, Simondium, Cape Winelands
Le Bonheur croc farm, centrally situated between Paarl, Franschoek and Stellenbosch on the R45 and offers the visitor the chance to see some of the 1000 Nile crocodiles of all sizes at close range and to learn about them on an interactive tour that runs every 45 minutes.
The tour, for which no bookings are required, takes you over open dams along a series of ramp ways. Visitors can touch a baby croc, and during summer months, see them being fed. Please phone to confirm the feeding times. Bigger groups are welcome and group discounts are offered.
The licensed café, which overlooks a beautiful waterfront garden, features many safe play areas for children. Sample the famous homemade croc pies, or enjoy a pre-booked picnic basket on the lawns. A free fishing benefit is linked to pre-booked picnic baskets. The well stocked dam holds Bass and Tilapia and the visitor centre offers catch and release fishing during normal business hours – bring your own rod or rent one from our gift shop.
The gift shop offers an extensive range of Nile crocodile leather articles. These quality items are fashioned by local craftsmen from skins sourced only from registered breeders and finished to the highest standard. Note that Le Bonheur is a CITES registered breeder/tanner of the African Nile crocodile – and produces one of the world’s most sought after exotic leathers.
Le Bonheur is an ideal wedding venue, conference facility, corporate family day venue, product launch venue, team event facility and childrens’ party venue.
