Lakenvlei is a premier still water, trout fishing venue, situated in the mountains close to Ceres, only two hours’ drive from Cape Town. A good stock of sizeable brown and rainbow trout inhabits this scenic, 84 ha, high altitude dam. Edged with good, sandy shores, this spot offers excellent fly-fishing, whether fishing from float tubing or the shore.

Although spring and autumn is prime fishing time, the season is year round, but winter can get very cold. On offer are day trips or overnight in a rustic lakeside cabin.

While catch and release fly-fishing is encourage, anglers may keep a maximum of two fish per day of over 35 cm each.
