The Everard Read Gallery is one of Africa’s most prominent commercial art galleries. Based in the swanky Rosebank area of Johannesburg and inhabiting its very own, purpose built post-modern building. The building is a beautiful curvaceous structure designed to let in enough natural light as to enhance the artwork on display.
For the past 30 years the gallery has been supporting local artists and sculptors from all walks of life. It is a world-class gallery showcasing some of the finest collections of local and international art across an array of genres and mediums.
Among past exhibitions at the gallery are paintings and sculpture curated in celebration of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ that showcased a rich and diverse collection of fine South African art.
A visit to the Everard gallery will certainly prove to be a fascinating experience that will captivate even those who don’t have an inclination towards art.

Just across the road is the Galleries’ sister, Circa on Jellicoe, a completely free standing functional extension of the existing gallery. The building is ultimately a large single ‘flexible’ space. Designed to display large scale sculptures, video installations and able to host global art auctions.
Interestingly, the building is largely self-servicing. Electricity is produced on-site using solar voltaic panels, harvested rain water is used for all but drinking water, and solar heated hot water will be used for space heating. Externally, the aluminium extrusions resemble reeds that give the building its unique architectural character.
