Betty’s Bay, Sandboarding on Blesberg Dune
If you are an adrenalin junkie, sandboarding the Blesberg Dune above Silversands Beach in Betty’s Bay, is a must. The windswept Blesberg dune is a prime location to experience down-hill adventure to its max. From the top of the dune, at 210m, one can reach great speeds and enjoy the ultimate adrenaline buzz.
The adrenalin Run – wax on wax off polish the under surface like an antique piece of furniture, walk up to a height of 210m just below the rock mantle and take a breather. Mentally prepare yourself for the run of your life. Whether natural or goofy, strap the board on securely, take in a deep breath and venture forth. The adrenalin run is a rush like no other. For children and the less adventurous, the small dunes of the Silversands beach will provide much enjoyment.
Access to the dune is through private property and it therefore imperative to abide by set regulations and help to contribute to the management of the dune so that we can continue to use this natural play-ground in the future. We are proud to support Conservancy Village principles pertaining to this unique area, enhancing environmental awareness as well as to promote sustainable policies.
This is a self-guided adventure, but we provide you with the boards and safety equipment, the instructions on how to use them, permits and directions. As with any adrenalin sport there is an element of danger that may cause injury. Ankles are the weak link between you and your board and are most injuries occur. What to wear and take: Hiking boots or trainers, a hat and sunblock, plenty of water to drink. There are no ablution facilities.
