Bermanzi Hiking Trail, Bermanzi Estate, Machadadorp

Bermanzi Hiking Trail, Machadadorp, Mpumalanga, South AfricaTwo Day Base Camp Hiking Trail or Day Trails in lush beautiful escarpment terrain near Machadadorp.

The Bermanzi Hiking Trail is closely related to the Five Assegais Hiking Trails and the Num Num Trail, as the Bermanzi Estate is one of the Estates that has collaborated on the 5 day Num Num Trail, and the Estate lies adjacent to the Five Assegais Estate.

The Bermanzi Hiking Trail offers a 2 day trail as well as day trails and walks for guests staying on the Estate.

The scenery is beautiful and lush, featuring tangled indigenous forest, kloofs, streams, waterfalls and rock pools as well as stunning birdlife. The trail also features various sites of cultural and historical significance, such as Bushman Rock Art, Boer War battle sites and the remains of ancient kraals (villages).

A highlight of the 2 day Bermanzi Hiking Trail is the Uitkoms Falls – the second highest waterfall in Mpumalanga, also known as the Bankspruit Falls and sometimes called the Bride’s Leap Falls. There is also a rope hanging bridge to cross – always fun!

The Bermanzi Trail is a base camp trail – the first day is 12km, and the second either 4 or 8 depending on the route chosen. Base camp is any of the several accommodations available on the lovely Bermanzi Estate.

The trails are all well marked and accredited Green Flag Trails.
