Amanzimtoti Golf Club, South Coast, KwaZulu-Natal
The Amanzimtoti Country Club has a long history going way back to 1915 when it was called the Isipingo Golf Club. It is situated on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal near to the popular holiday town of the same name. It is a superb course and is maintained in perfect condition.
The course is flat but has some challenging holes requiring straight driving, the signature hole being the 16th with a 180 m carry over the river with a dogleg to the left to a well bunkered green. The par 5 18th has its tee virtually on the beach with panoramic views of everything except the fairway! Dense bush makes it difficult to see the fairway but a straight drive towards the water tower will see you right for the final shots to the green.
The fact that the course is a conservancy has attracted abundant bird and animal life along its coastal and river areas. You are likely to spot cormorants, pelicans and fish eagles as well as monkeys and small buck.
The pro-shop is well stocked and clubs can be hired. The clubhouse has excellent facilities and the venue is available for corporate and sponsored golf days, corporate seminars and private functions.
