Kinross

Kinross is a small gold mining town near Secunda in Mpumalanga. Named after Kinross in Scotland by one of the one of the original village’s engineers in the early 20th century , Kinross is situated among coal mining towns and power stations in South Africa’s ‘Energy Belt’, in the Cosmos Region of the Highveld.

The surrounding area is rural, with farms, horse studs and country guesthouses. There is also a small nine hole golf course which also offers accommodation.

Getting there: Kinross is situated on the N17 between Johannesburg and Bethal, just over an hour’s drive from Johannesburg.
