Boston

Boston is a charming little village in the Mkhomazi Valley of the Natal Midlands about 40km from Bulwer. In fact Bulwer and Boston are very much connected to each other as part of the Boston/Bulwer Beat, a local organization formed to bring this beautiful area to the attention of tourists. The Drakensberg Mountains are within a few hours’ drive from the town

The area is only about an hour from Durban and with its rolling hills, rivers, lush forests, waterfalls and dams it is an ideal escape into nature. Activities include, paragliding, trout fishing, birding, rafting and hiking. There are a number of endangered bird species in the area including the very rare Cape Parrot, the Wattled Crane and the Blue Swallow. There are only 360 breeding pairs of the Cape Parrot left in the world.

The area is a hive of activity and an annual Spring Fling is held at the Boston Country Club, a festive occasion where everyone can enjoy the social scene with good food and wine.
