Kamberg

Kamberg Valley lies between the Midlands town of Nottingham Road and the Drakensberg Mountain Range in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It is a vast open space characterized by verdant rolling hills, rivers and dams and exudes an atmosphere of calm and tranquility.

Activities in the area include trout fishing, birding, hiking, tubing on the Mooi River, abseiling and hot air ballooning for the more adventurous. There are a number of annual events organized by the local community including the Kamberg Trout Festival, the Kamberg Outdoor Challenge, the Kamberg Country Day and the Glengarry Mountain Bike Classic.

Because of its central location between the Midlands and the Drakensberg, Kamberg is the ideal place for visitors to base themselves. The Kamberg Nature Reserve is part of the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park, a World Heritage site and is well worth a visit. The valley is also close to many other adventure activities in the Midlands such as Karkloof Canopy Tours (the longest in South Africa) and abseiling over the Howick falls.

Getting there: turn off the N3 at Nottingham Road and follow the signposts to Kamberg along the Loteni Road. From Johannesburg take the second interchange at Mooi River and then first left to Rosetta.
