Hirsch’s Success Story
Hirsch’s Meadowdale recently hosted a successful Business Networking Morning with Allan Hirsch, CEO and founder of the Hirsch Group of companies, as the speaker for the morning. Allan’s based his talk on Hirsch’s- How it started and how it has grown beyond expectations over the past 37 years.
He gave guests some background on his life and how he struggled throughout school with dyslexia. He dropped out of school in standard seven, and completed an apprenticeship and started working for a company in Durban repairing appliances. In 1972 Allan met and married Margaret, and they had two children, Richard and Luci. In 1979 with only R900.00 in the bank, Allan decided to take a leap of faith and opened his own Electrical appliance repair store. Throughout the years of sticking to the basics, taking care of their customers and a lot of hard work, Hirsch’s have grown to be the largest independently owned appliance and electronics retailer in Southern Africa, with fourteen branches and four concept stores spread throughout Gauteng, KZN and the Cape.
After the talk, Allan answered questions and gave guests an opportunity to give a one minute presentation, enabling them to market their businesses and create more awareness.
