Langkloof

The Langkloof Region is famous for apple orchards and fruit farms, so spring in this region is spectacular with all the scented blossoms. The main artery though the region is the R62, which is the stunning alternative route from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth.

The Langkloof Region runs between George and Port Elizabeth and includes the rural towns of Joubertina and Kareedouw and the villages of Misgund, Louterwater and Krakeel.

This region is itself divided into a north and south side, with the southern side famous fruit farming, and the northern side (which encompasses part of the Karoo region) for sheep farming.

The dramatic beauty of the Langkloof area in the Eastern Cape has led to it being nicknamed “The Valley of a Thousand Vistas”; it is visually spectacular, and offers many wilderness and rural attractions as well as the R62 self-drive Fruit Route.

Small private reserves such as the Kouga Wilderness Area offer almost every kind of inland outdoor activity you can think of – from spectacular camping, to mountain-biking, beautiful and challenging hiking trails, 4 x 4 routes, abseiling, climbing, loafing and exploring ancient San Bushman caves.
