STAY LIFTED
DR KEN NEDD
I go to a Yoga class several times a week and there is where I learnt these two power words.
In Yoga when you are struggling trying to align your knees or,
When you are trying to stretch your arms or twist your spine by looking backwards, the tendency is to slough or compress your spine.
That’s the way we normally live and move.
It seems natural during a yoga pose to let your will power and your core muscles become disengaged and weak, thereby putting more pressure on your back.
This is not good for your spine; and since the spine is the super highway of the body, you need to counter this tendency to give in and slump.
So the teacher conducting the Yoga class keeps saying, “ Stay lifted. Stay lifted.” This makes all the difference.
My teacher explains that you should stay lifted in your posture by lengthening your spine and trying to touch the sky with the top of your head.
All day long I can hear her voice, “ Stay lifted, Stay lifted”.
You should also stay lifted in spirit by smiling even when you feel like crap and you should stay lifted in energy by breathing deeply in through your nose and slowly out through your mouth while focusing on your body.
I made a video for you and you can watch it here.
I would like to invite you to Stay Lifted when the pressures of work and home seem unbearable.
Make it a habit to sit or stand up straight. Touch the sky with the top of your head and breathe, for heaven’s sake breathe and think beautiful and inspiring thoughts.
Remember to stay lifted when your spouse decides not to show any love and you feel like giving in and sulking. Stay lifted. Watch your posture.
Stay lifted when your boss seems unfair.
Stay lifted when business is bad.
Stay lifted when you begin to feel worn out by your efforts to complete your project to meet the deadline and every conceivable obstacle presents itself and blocks your success.
Stay lifted when opposition arises.
When you stay lifted, think of your posture – head high, chest proud, eyes slightly up, shoulder broad and loose, neck long, upper body slightly back, face positive and the emotion of happiness bubbling inside.
So stay lifted in body, mind, emotions and spirit.
Use these two words often and do what they say.
Put them on your computer and your phone, around the house, on every door; and when you see these two words follow the prompt.
Your heart and your immune system will love you for it.
When you are under stress IgA, the first line of defense against disease, falls leaving you more vulnerable to disease,
If you remember to stay lifted, the IgA will remain normal or might even increase to keep your healthy, despite the stress.
Stay lifted.
