The Buffelspoort Valley is situated in the Magaliesberg near Rustenburg and Mooi Nooi. Buffelspoort Dam is an arch type dam in the Sterkstroom River, a tributary of the Crocodile River, North West Province, South Africa. Its main purpose is for irrigation use and it is owned by the Department of Water Affairs.

Buffelspoort Dam is renowned for great fishing and especially famous for its Black Bass especially during the summer months. The water is so clear and that you get spots with water-grass makes Buffelspoort the perfect dam for Bass. The dam is also known for its big Carp that gets caught mainly in the winter months. There are also a big amount of Kurpers in the dam together with Yellow Fish that mainly gets caught while the angler are fishing for Carp.
