Locals star in Blended
Rustenburg – The long awaited film Blended starring Drew Barrymore, Adam Sandler and Wendi McLendon-Covey, is now on circuit and can be seen at the Ster-Kinekor cinema at the Waterfall Mall.
The Platinum Weekly carried a story last year while filming was underway at Sun City, relating Adam Sandler’s encounter with a South African cheetah.
The Hollywood star had some time off to enjoy a private safari and was invited into a cheetah’s enclosure to help feed it under the supervision of an animal specialist. Bending down low to feed the cheetah water with his hands somehow sent the wrong signals to the wild cat, which promptly turned aggressive and jumped on the 46 -year old star’s back. The owner of the wildlife park pried the cat off Sandler’sback and though admittedly very nervous, Sandler is said to have remained remarkably calm through his scary experience.
Blended is the story of a couple who had a disastrous first date, meeting unexpectedly at a holiday resort with their respective off-spring in tow. Their attraction grows as the respective kids benefit from the burgeoning relationship.
Cari and Felicia Pasino
Local sisters Cari and Felicia Pasino have only praise for Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler, who they describe as both being down to earth, nice people. Sandler is a true gentleman who enquired after everybody’s health and wellbeing every morning before shooting started.
When the girls’ hair was styled in the mornings, the hair dresser would call Barrymore to get her opinion and determine if she would like her hair done in the same way.
Doors have opened for the Pasino’s who have been offered modelling contracts and the possibility of more film work in the future. Both agree that the experience was “super cool” but very hard work which left them exhausted at the end of each day.
Valentino Saincic
“Hey Dude, there’s a lot of hot chicks out here,” is the line of another local, Valentino Saincic, which made it past the editors desk and gave him his first taste of Hollywood magic.
Valentino and his older brother, Calim, were both working as extra’s on the film set during May and June 2013 when he was noticed during the filming of a party scene which led to his being offered a line to say to Bella Thorne. It was only while watching the movie for the first time after its release that he realised the scene had been used.
The experience has just given Valentino the incentive to follow up on his life-long fascination with the film industry. He is now more determined than ever to make filming his career and has since registered with a South African casting agency to become more involved in the industry.
Valentino agrees with Cari and Felecia that being involved in the production of Blended had been a most enjoyable experience which he would not have missed for anything.
