Baba’s Jêm Restaurant and Jam Shop, Ceres
Experience Cape Malay cuisine at Baba’s Jêm’s home, where you will be warmly welcomed by Eileen Baron, the chef. Taste the unique and interesting preserves made in her green kitchen – varieties of jams, chutneys, atchars and pickles, ideal to take away.
The fresh fruits and vegetables grown in the fertile Ceres valley are used to make the preserves at Baba’s Jêm.
Enjoy the delights of traditional Malay baking – mosbeskuit, ovenbread, vetkoek and roosterkoek.
You can savour a light meal of traditional Cape Malay cooking like roti, vegetarian curry, vetkoek, chakalaka and samoosas. After all the tasting and eating try Eileen’s home brewed ginger beer or moerkoffie* (*coffee made from roasted coffee beans placed in a muslin bag and brewed in a tin coffee pot).
Baba’s Jêm demonstrations on how to make these traditional foods are done for groups. Please book in advance.
