Flying to Pretoria
When travelling, most Pretoria residents commutes to Johannesburg to catch a flight.
Pretoria is served by OR Tambo International, Lanseria International Airport and Wonderboom National Airport north of Pretoria.
Wonderboom National Airport services light commercial and private aircraft, and there are two military air bases to the south of the City, Swartkop and Waterkloof.
AFB Swartkop
The South African Air Force Memorial is located at Swartkop. It contains an honour roll of SAAF personnel who have been killed on duty as well as a memorial to personnel of all nations that died during the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan in South Africa.

AFB Waterkloof
The base was officially opened on 1 August 1938 as Waterkloof Air Station. Since that time it has always been in the service of the SAAF. It was upgraded to Air Force Base during WWII.

Wonderboom National Airport
Originally a civilian airstrip for light aircraft, it was used for military training purposes during the Second World War. The Wonderboom Airport handles general aviation flights and scheduled passenger services. Airlink offers daily flights between Pretoria and Cape Town from Wonderboom.

OR Tambo International
The air transport hub of Southern Africa, catering for more than 17 million passengers each year. The airport boasts an impressive infrastructure that has expanded by thousands of square metres from its modest origins.

Lanseria International
Privately owned international airport that can handle aircraft up to the size of the Boeing 757-300. Although fewer airlines fly to Lanseria Airport than OR Tambo International Airport, it is closer to the Sandton, Pretoria, Westrand and Midrand regions of Johannesburg.
