World AIDS Day Commemoration
The MMC for Health and Social Development, Cllr Sakkie du Plooy, held a special candle-lighting ceremony to commemorate people who were and still are affected by HIV and AIDS. He reminded the attendees that people living with HIV and AIDS need to have hope – hope to survive, hope that tomorrow will be better, hope that someone with love and compassion will come by and walk with them into the future. That person can be you or me …
Three candles were lit:
- First candle: for passion with people who live with the HI virus
- Second candle: to remember women who suffer
- Third candle: to think of children who are neglected and rejected
His message: Let us give hope, like a bright light leading them into the future.
