Waste not want not, young recyclers told
Pupils from Inkululeko Community Centre listened attentively and curiously as they were being taught about the importance of taking care of the environment – and recycling.
Among their lecturers, at the Salvokop centre, was Mrs South Africa finalist Kholofelo Tsoloane and officials from recycling company Mpact. They had partnered to educate the children about recycling, and gave them green Ronnie plastic bags to collect paper to raise funds for the school.
Tsoloane told the pupils she had specifically chosen them for the type of minds she could access there.
“I was teaching them about recycling and its importance to the environment. We gave them Ronnie bags, told them about the different types of paper and how they could dispose of it. And it’s not only about talking, but about how they can go home and teach their parents about recycling.
