The Day of The Champion

This is a full racing day for racing motorcycles. The Day of the Champion will have the Isle of Man Classic TT for the Superbikes of the eighties.
This is one of the most unique motorcycle racing events you will ever see in South Africa. The race will comprise a South Africa VS Scotland Challenge.
The Scottish team will comprise:
- Iain Fearless MacPherson
- Iain Simpson
- Howard Selby
- Gordon Grigor
The South African Springboks have:
- Graeme van Breda
- Gavin Ramsay
- Peter Labuschagne
- Mike McSkimming
Then there is the South African all out contingent racers including Noel Haarhoff, Danie Maritz, plus the ex-World Champion Mick Grant and his contingent from the UK.
A field of 25/30 Classic Superbikes in action all racing for their country and to the line. It is incredible to take into account that these riders will be lapping Zwartkops in the SUB10 category in many instances lap times done by our modern machinery.
The Isle of Man Classic Superbike Series forms part of a full racing programme of the day which will also be the season opener for the Bridgestone Challenge, the National Challenge Bridgestone Thunderbikes plus the Bridgestone SUB10 Superbikes.
Then the Red Square Kawasaki ZX10 Masters National Challenge – some 30 plus masters in action. The day also includes a special parade of Jan Groats and Mick Grants collection of the greatest racing motorcycles of the 1950’s and 1960’s with visiting international riders plus our Peter Labuschagne , Keith Zeeman and also the 250cc Honda RC163 of Jim Redman. To conclude the programme will also be those more mature racers of the Historic Motorcycle Group. A magnificent day of racing with all the names of yesterday, today and Champions of tomorrow.
