21 September 2016
The Silverlakes finalist for September of the prestigious Margaret Hirsch Woman in Business Achiever Competition, was recently announced at the monthly Ladies Networking morning. A delighted Sonja Stanford, the owner of Latin Look Dance Studio, has been in business for 28 years and participated in the first ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ series in South Africa with James Dalton. In addition to running her Dance Studio, Sonja was also the first female to achieve Springbok Colours as a dancer and teacher in South Africa.
The guest speaker at the event, Elize Brassell, spoke on the importance of having a clear vision for your life and business. Elize, who is the owner of Strategy International, encouraged the ladies present to embrace their uniqueness and to align their unique qualities and skills to those of their business. She explained the importance of rising above average to excellence by:
- Moving in the right circles with likeminded and positive people
- Focussing on your purpose, this will bring success
- Knowing what the market needs
- Adapting quickly
Said one of the guests, Sharron Wilkinson: “This was just what I needed to hear, I felt like Elize was only talking to me.”
An opportunity was given for each of the attendees to give an ‘elevator pitch’ – 30 second presentation of their business, in this way enabling them to market their businesses and in so doing create more awareness.
After some lovely lucky draw prizes were won, the swopping out of business cards and informal networking over a cappuccino continued.
