Cable theft leads to power outage in Ga-Rankuwa
We wish to inform the residents of Ga-Rankuwa who are experiencing a power outage due to the control plant cables and batteriers that were stolen at the substation early this morning.
Although Ga-Rankuwa is supplied by Eskom, we are jointly working with them to ensure that we resolve the problem as soon as is practically possible.
A team has been dispatched to assess the extent of the damage and we will advise soon on the estimated time of restoration.
We strongly condemn the theft of cables as it leads to service interruption and we call on all our residents to report suspicious behavior around substations and any other city infrastructure. The Tshwane Metro Police Department has made significant strides in the recent past to curb cable theft which costs the City minimum of R5 million rand a month.
Residents are urged to report cable theft and vandalism of any City infrastructure to 012 358 7095/6.
