P-Town Roller Derby league Fresh Meat
P-TOWN ROLLER DERBY LEAGUE was founded in 2015 as a Closed Corporation operating with the values of a non-profit organisation, non-racial sporting club dedicated to promoting the sport of at track Roller Derby.
The Savage Sailor Dolls was the League and Pretoria’s first Roller Derby team. We are business owners, graphic designers, teachers, journalists, au pairs, military ATC’s, artists, lawyers, students and corporate ladies with an enthusiasm for Roller Derby. Twice a week we transform into our thrilling alter-ego’s, and give our best on and of the track to grow and improve as skaters and as people.
Our league supports, encourages and promotes the physical and mental strength of independent spirited amateur athletes. We strive for excellence in all aspects of Roller Derby. We promote a positive body image with an emphasis on fun and fitness. We develop skaters in their skating ability and encourage our members to exhibit exceptional athleticism, leadership, and sportsmanlike conduct (both on and o the track). We strive to create a full contact sport that inspire men, woman and our fans.
Last night was the PRDL Fresh Meat & Great session where new comers could try out to see whether they are Savage Sailor Doll Material. Kicking it off by welcoming everyone, they immediately started a warm up session and explained what the do’s and don’ts of the game is.
As the A-team stretched and prepared to get their move on for the skills developing coarse, the fresh meat was finding their way around the roller skates. Being taught how to skate, stop, turn, fall correctly without getting hurt and what to how react on the battle field.
