The CAP RUN – a Biker event with an educational twist!
The second year theology students from Unlock Academy, successfully hosted a fundraising event called the Cap Run, this past Saturday at Jabulani Lodge. It all started with a dream, a vision and now it seems that the Cap Run will become and annual event.
Graduation can be a very exciting moment for many of our students, but for some, the cost of buying a graduation gown is another expense that impedes them from fully experiencing the culminating moment of their academic achievement. For this reason, the diploma students took it upon themselves to raise funds, so that the college can be the proud owners of their very own graduation gowns and regalia.
Invitations were sent out to the private & corporate sector and the biker community at large, either in person or via email, requesting for sponsorship and raffle prizes. The response was just overwhelming positive and overflowing with favour. The sponsors opened their hearts and their wallets for this project.
Unlock Academy primarily serves the biker community, by providing education for those seeking, an in-depth understanding of the Gospel. The goal was achieved and it will now allow Unlock to own their own gowns and regalia for may years to come. Through teamwork, dedication, unity and keeping the faith, the initiative turned out to be a phenomenal success.
Unlock Academy and its students, want to thank each and every sponsor for their generosity. Because of the blessings Unlock received through the sponsors, they were able to give away more than R 60 000 worth of prizes on the day. Without their passionate involvement, time and support, this event would not have been possible.
Save the date and make sure we see you next year for the second Cap Run!
