You’ve already seen by now that the Market @ the Sheds knows how to show people a good time, we were at the Old Fire Station in town this time around and the scene alone added to the joy of being out on a cold Saturday afternoon this past weekend.
The Market @ the Sheds used to be hosted in an old warehouse (012 Central) in the city centre, but decided to spread their wings and showcase more of what the inner city and immediate surroundings have to offer.
“The idea is to spread awareness about public spaces within the city,” said Mareli Wassenaar.
Embedded in historic structures and landscapes are traces of stories that speak of our community, and this pop up market gives us the opportunity to experience these.
Did you know that the Old Fire Station served many purposes over its 103 years lifetime, namely: a dumping ground, fire station, a museum, school of performing arts and I still remember those art kitchen events Capital Arts Revolution used to throw at this very spot!
Don’t fret if you missed the fire station edition because Market @ the Sheds is keeping this chilled spot as their main base while still popping up at various venues within the CBD.
