Mahem Raceway
If you love the sound of roaring engines, burning tyres and stands full of spectators – then Mahem Raceway in Pretoria West, better known as the Mahem Oval is the place to be.
Built in 1963, it has hosted thousands of race meetings over the years. Owned and promoted by Mr. Deane Wood, it has the best racing atmosphere you can experience at the Ovaltrack.
For Mahem, the most important people at the track are the spectators. It’s all about the entertainment. Spectators can bring a cooler box, gas braai and picnic blanket and enjoy oval circuit racing at its best.
Mahem boasts 3 000 grandstand seats and the circuit inside diameter is 390 meters.
They offer following classes:
• Ninja Midget which is the small children under 13
• Midgets and V8 Sprints which both are open wheelers
• Stockrod Class – This is the class to begin in and this is one of the affordable classes
• 1660 Modifieds
• 2ltr. Pinto’s
• The famous Bangers – where the guys work out all their anger out on the cars
The technical regulations for competing cars in oval racing guarantee the entertainment. There are a few exceptions to accommodate new technology but overall it has remained unchanged. Car remain competitive. Anyone can buy a racer, prepare it properly and join the sport’s contested classes.

Directions:
Pretoria Gardens come through the Daspoort Tunnel, straight in Bremmer street,turn left in Van der Hoff rd, go straight, past ABI on your right, and Mercedez on your left, until you get Richardsbay ave,there you turn left,straight up to the mountain and there you will see the gate with the Spedeworth sign.
