Ludwig’s Spring Rose Festival 2015 Launch
ShowMe Pretoria attended the launch of the 2015 Spring Rose Festival at Ludwig’s Roses on Thursday, 1 October. A magnitude of colour and awesome inspiring rose varieties in full bloom, arranged in massive mandalas, greeted us in the Rose Barn – a sight to behold!
Thousands of fresh roses from the rose fields of Ludwig’s Rose Farm have been “woven” into spectacular displays that are the main feature of the Spring Rose Festival at the farm, north of Pretoria. This year the Spring Rose Festival is open for the public from 3 – 11 October.
The theme is “Blooming Mandala” and the roses have been used to create circular mandalas that symbolise unity and harmony.
Like exotic, intricately designed carpets, the mandalas cover the floor and walls of the Rose Barn; an invitation to all who enter to become immersed in the fragrance, colour and beauty of the rose. All the oasis for the mandalas have been supplied by Braaks Oasis.
Floral communicator Jill Manson will lead a flower meditation on Sunday, October 4 at 11 am. The session is free and everyone is welcome to participate. Jill is well known for her flower communication and flower healing workshops that take participants on a journey of self-discovery using the colour, beauty and healing essence of flowers.
Other activities during the Spring Rose Festival are:
- Pixie rose planting and colouring in and quizzes for the kids – prizes
- Tractor train rides through the rose fields
- Walk the rose mile (sturdy shoes and a hat are all that’s needed to explore the rose fields on your own)
- Cut roses picked on a daily basis
- Spring festival menu at Spiced Coffee restaurant or picnic among the roses
- Wine tasting with Earthbound, JC le Roux, Tulbagh Winery and Middelvlei.
- Rose boutique
Entrance is free and there is ample parking. The farm is open seven days a week, from 08:00 to 17:00.
