Unique stadium relay race coming to town
Unique to Nelson Mandela Bay and growing into a popular corporate event, the Town Lodge Business Night Relay returns to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium next Tuesday evening with a 4-part Series taking place on the last Tuesday of the month for May, June, July and August.
This fun corporate team building event is unique in South Africa in that it comprises of a running and walking relay race through one of the iconic 2010 Football World Cup legacy multi-purpose stadiums. Sponsored by the City Lodge Hotels Group, Town Lodge, the event is open to teams comprising of 5 runners or 3 walkers with each team member running/walking a secure 3.5km distance within the stadium precinct. The route takes in 3 levels of the majestic stadium and sees the start/finish transition area outside the VIP lounge of the stadium on Level 1.
Online registration is highly recommended on www.nightrelay.co.za with just the team captain/representatives details and the team name needed. On the last Tuesday of each month, registration for pre-registered teams opens at 4pm at the Stadium with the run relay starting at 6pm and the walkers 2 minutes later. Prize giving takes place at 8am with floating trophies, medals & City Lodge Hotels group breakfast vouchers for category winners in the walk team, men’s run team, ladies run team and mixed run team categories. Traditionally a wide selection of fantastic lucky draw prizes is up for grabs each race night which will include a R500 Caltex fuel voucher and R1,000 cash.
