The freshly implemented Valley Market, hosted from a revamped warehouse in the Baakens Valley on the first Saturday of every month, celebrates a tremendous response from the Port Elizabeth public this far. ShowMe Port Elizabeth provides 5 reasons why…
The 5C’s of The Valley Market
Choice
Patrons of The Valley Market are spoilt for choice, with unique, quality driven food and beverage stalls on offer. The ‘feast for the eyes’ experience is initially overwhelming, as one cannot sample ALL of the delicious items in one trip, but is guaranteed to cater to the taste buds of the masses- ranging from risky to more fussy eaters. Those yet to attend the monthly market can expect to be ‘wowed’ by food and beverage categories along the lines of :coffee, juices, smoothies, craft beer, boutique wines, paella, gourmet boerie rolls, pizza, breads, meats, Prego rolls, dim sum, fresh fruit and vegetables, chocolate , freshly baked goods, [deep breathe] biltong, cheeses, pancakes, fudge, homemade ice-cream and SO much more! All extremely well-priced too! The key words summarising The Valley Markey are “artisan” and “organic”, and although the market is food and beverage driven, additional goods, including handcrafted items from the Love Story project HeartVelt and beautiful bouquets of flowers are even available for purchase.
Child-friendly
The high-energy market is a definite outing for the entire family, with suffice seating available, and face painting facilities attracting the attention of the kiddies. If you’re a doting aunt/uncle seeking to win the title of “favourite”, The Valley Market is the ideal place to take your nephew/niece! Operating from 8am-3pm, you can pop in after a derby match, or sneak a trip in amongst Saturday errands. Entrance is free for children under 12 years, and be sure to snap and share your family moments at The Valley Market photo wall.
Charity
With an affordable entrance cost of R10, the community minded project donates a portion of proceeds to the non-profit organisation, Love Story. Love Story is an extremely active organisation, driving numerous causes such as: soup kitchens, feeding schemes, crèche support, hospital room renovations, and clothing and toy handouts in and around Port Elizabeth. If patrons have any clothing or goods that they wish to donate, they are encouraged to place them in the donation boxes at the market. To view and support their latest projects, visit Facebook: “Love Story- Go And Do the same”. Patrons purchasing hot beverages from Coffee for a Cause can do their bit whilst sipping on a cappuccino too!
Creativity
The Valley Market is the perfect opportunity to ditch the ordinary and avoid typical franchise experiences that are so easy to become accustomed to. Be prepared to get the creative juices flowing, and find yourself indulging in the unusual- from a creative cupcake bouquet to the acquired bacon and whiskey fudge! Adding to the festive, ‘all things bright and beautiful’ atmosphere is live music, with impressive local talent Marc Anthony Kock extending his fan base at the market held on 4 July 2015.
Community
Well-deserved, The Valley Market is the newest member to the community of exceptional markets within South Africa, ranking amongst: Wild Oats Market ( Sedgefield), The Old Biscuit Mill (Cape Town), The Hout Bay Market, The Fourways Farmers Market (Johannesburg), Neighbourgoods Market ( Johannesburg, Cape Town) .Overall, markets exemplify a charming way of bringing people together, whilst exhibiting local talent and tucking into DELICIOUS food! Melanie Schoeman Naude praises the market on their Facebook page and writes: “Thank you for bringing such amazing creativity and talent together for us to enjoy. My first visit today and I hope to never miss one again” .Many patrons will agree that the thought: “Well done PE” ran through their minds whilst browsing The Valley Market, and we can’t wait for the next one!
