The EXPEDITION Project in Plett
Text and photographs by Christy Strever
The EXPEDITION Project arrived in a very wet Plettenberg Bay on the 7th August 2012 as part of their annual journey around South Africa; Plettenberg Bay is the 156th Town to be visited and today also marked their 220th day, of their 365 days on the road.
Offthehook Seafood Café sponsored an amazing, as always, lunch for Roger. ShowMe Head Office and ShowMe Plett would like to thank Executive Mayor Memory Booysen and of course the Deputy Mayor Adam van Rhyner who attended the lunch. Thank you to Wayne and Louise Craig for your hospitality and delicious food.
After lunch Roger and I went to see the new library in New Horizons before meeting Phillip Damonds in Kranshoek. Phillip gave a very interesting tour around their Community Development Centre, where they have their own vegetable garden, furniture repair shop, coffee shop as well as the development of the new nursery.
Aquavit Guest House, owned by Linda and Ole Olson, had generously sponsored one night to the EXPEDITION project. Roger woke up to a tasty breakfast and was on the road again to Knysna and Sedgefield where ShowMe Knysna will make sure they are well looked after.
The EXPEDITION Project is currently underway with the first of a series of an annual journey around South Africa, in search of a nation’s stories, dream and heartbeat. Their primary aim is to take stock of our social and environmental challenges, assist with practical solutions and inspire sustainable change. Among others, Plettenberg Bay, will benefit tremendously from this fantastic initiative. We look forward to seeing Roger and his team next year.
