Lunchbox Theatre August 2012 Newsletter
Support Stuart as he takes on the gruelling “Grail of Trail” to raise funds for Lunchbox Theatre.
The Otter African Trail Run has been dubbed ‘The Holy Grail’ of trail running and is listed as one of South Africa’s toughest trail runs. The Otter is a 42 km trail run set in the breathtaking Tsitsikamma National Park traversing the full 5-day hiking route of the Otter Trail.
In 2012 it will be run in reverse and has been renamed the Retto.
Stuart Palmer, our founder and director, will be taking on the challenge of running this race in under 8 hours to raise funds for the educational and developmental theatre projects of Lunchbox Theatre. (He completed the 2011 run in just under 7 hours).
Your contribution to this project will allow Lunchbox Theatre to take their educational theatre shows to Garden Route primary schools and raise awareness around important environmental topics such as Animal Welfare, Marine Conservation, Water Conservation, Biodiversity, and Tree Planting.
Please support this project by donating through Back a Buddy and assisting Lunchbox Theatre in taking these vital messages to many more children.

Tshisa Talent provides top quality entertainers for your event
Tshisa Talent DISCOVERS local performing artists and DEVELOPS their talent through various platforms, workshops and marketing opportunities. We then PROMOTE these artists to local tourism, municipalities, hotels, restaurant etc as a means of gaining paid performances for them.
Why look to Cape Town, PE, or Jo’burg for your performers when there is some top class entertainment right here on the Garden Route?
Our brand new Tshisa Talent website has just been launched. The website lists some of the best artists we have worked with in the Garden Route area alongside a number of other professional and national performers. From hip hop dancers to praise poets, from gospel groups to guitarists, Tshisa Talent has the perfect performer for your event.
A big thank you to Steve from Pix by Steve and thanks to Christy from Show Me Plett for their fantastic photographs!

Tshisa 2012
Plett Community really pulled together on this one!
What a success the Tshisa Talent Finals were! Hosted at The White House Theatre on the 27th May 2012. The spirit of the occasion and the willingness of our community to support one another was evident in the long list of prize givers and contributors; that share Lunchbox Theatre’s passion for creating development opportunities and platforms for our local artists.
Thank to Showme for their great support throughout our Annual Tshisa Talent event
Eden Drama Festival Plettenberg Bay coming to us in August
In its second year now the Eden Drama Festival provides a platform for local Eden drama groups to create theatre shows that compete against each other for some wonderful prizes. Plettenberg Bay has had the most entries this year and as a result will be hosting our very own showcase on the 25th August. Watch the press for more details.
Grahamstown National Arts Festival 2012
We performed our brand new “The Tree Show” as part of the Public Art Productions on the Main Festival Programme at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown. The team of 6 performed 7 shows to over 400 children in just 4 days at various locations in and around the vibrant arts festival. The 40 minute show looks at the importance of trees in our daily lives and teaches the audience, through interactive song and dance, how to plant a tree. The purpose of these shows was to bring a taste of the festival to the outlying areas of town and by doing so we also were “Greening Grahamstown”
Oyster Festival 2012
This was the fourth year that Lunchbox Theatre has run the entertainment side of Pick n Pay Young Oyster Festival in Knysna. This year we performed 4 shows and 6 workshops covering puppetry, dance, music and drama.
Open Mic Sessions
We are proud to announce that the National Arts Council has approved our next Tshisa Project, Weekly open mic sessions at the various community centres within the Bitou Municipal boundaries.
This will provide a platform for artists across the various genres to showcase their skills and network with other artists. Jobs will be created through paid gigs for guest artists and local DJs who have excelled throughout the Tshisa Talent process.
KKNK
We were very fortunate to be invited to run the Towerfluitklanke and Luhambo programme at this year’s ABSA KKNK Festival 2012. It is so rewarding when one can have such a huge impact on the lives of kids in Oudtshoorn.
