Temporary parking area in Plett causes concern
Plettenberg Bay environmentalists and a number of Keurbooms residents are dissatisfied about the proposed temporary parking facility that Enrico Iacopini of Ristorante Enrico intends to create for the peak tourist season from mid-December until mid-January.
The proposed site is regarded by environmentalists as a sensitive wetland area.
It is believed that this sensitive ecosystem will be irreversibly damaged should the proposed temporary parking facility go ahead.
Alternative proposals to alleviate the long-standing parking issue at Kettle Beach, Keurboomsstrand, have been made to the municipality by concerned residents. It remains unclear whether the alternative proposals will be accepted.
The story is unfolding.
