Plettenberg Bay ‘Coining’ it for the Rhino
The Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve is one of a very small number of safari camps on the Southern Cape coastline where visitors can see many of the big 5 wildlife in their natural habitat. The reserve is situated on over 2000 hectares of indigenous beauty and is malaria free. There are over 150 different species of game and birdlife.
Plett Game Reserve is home currently to two Rhino but have been permitted to house 70 in total. Due to the topography of the Reserve, the Rhino will not only be free to roam comfortably but the location also lends itself to very manageable 24 hour surveillance and protection by guards, cameras, drones, etc.
The challenge of course will be the ongoing funding of such an operation. Plett Game Reserve have thus made it their mission to secure as much funding as possible. By making available to the public and those who wish to assist in this very worthy cause, a signature Rhino Project coin fashioned from pure silver, can be purchased for $60 USD. The proceeds will go to the Rhino Project Fund, enabling the team at Plett Game Reserve to care for and protect the Rhino and make a real difference in the fight against Rhino poaching.
The beautiful African Rhino population is in dire need of protection and conservation. Poachers are ruthless and with every onslaught the numbers on these incredible animals are dwindling. With 5940 African Rhino having been killed for their horn in 2015, and with 1175 of those deaths on South African soil, the situation calls for urgent and earnest intervention.
