Next Rage already brewing
The hype around the annual Plett Rage student festival has barely subsided, but organisers are hard at work already planning to put on a bigger and better event this year.
The festival – one of the biggest of its kind in the Southern hemisphere, attracts about 10 000 school leavers to the coastal holiday town during just after the matric exams and showcases not only what the area has to offer, but also some of South Africa’s biggest music talents.
Last year the event started on December 2 and came to an end on December 9.
Assistant project manager for the festival Ashley Brown said they had already launched this year’s festival dates and that it would take place between December 1 and 8.
“After the amazing year of Plett Rage 2016, we had a very short three-day rest, but I’ve started with artist research and developing an even better product. We’ve seen a dramatic increase of Afrikaans and Gauteng matrics and therefore we’ll be curating our stages and artists accordingly, giving our Ragers of 2017 more variety,” Brown said.
He added that the production office had also started drafting a new layout of the festival to enhance the overall flow of the event and to combat noise pollution to local residents. “And this year we’ll also be launching a VIP Pass for a limited number of Ragers that will include a private bar, viewing deck and private toilets.”
Brown further said that there were also some brand new daytime attractions in the pipeline. “But unfortunately, we can’t say more about this just yet.”
Online pre-registration for this year’s festival will take place late in January and sales will open early February 2017.
“The latest news will be launched on all social media and we would advise all future and past Ragers to follow our social media challenges.”
“Plett Rage 2017 will be hosting the best Rage Village to date – with its own camping or glamourous camping options – and we’ll also be releasing exciting new partnerships with trusted accommodation suppliers after last year’s fraudulent sales of accommodation in Plett by an outside party.”
In the meantime 2016 Ragers can look forward to the event’s “after movie” which will be released this week.
