Wool&more – February 2014 Newsletter
Hello from a VERY hot and humid Plett.
It’s just no wonder many folk have been unwilling to pick up their knitting and crocheting, roll on Winter because, like most knitters, I have so many ideas and projects milling about in my brain, can’t wait to get going!
The past week has been very challenging at wool&more – I have been seeing reps from various manufacturing and importing companies with their new and exciting yarns. How on earth to decide which yarns to order, in what colours and how many packs of each! Some of the exciting yarns to be added to the lovely variety of stock are:
- Great new sock yarn in gorgeous colours. It is 80% pure wool and 20% nylon (for the movement required) and knits as a 4 ply. This has been unavailable for some time and due to public demand, is being relaunched
- A beautiful “seriously chunky” yarn from Elle, can compare with the best from all over the world! It’s call Baltic and although is Acrylic and Polyester, is soft and cuddly and great for adults and kids alike, a real “snuggle” garment will emerge!
- A range of Aran yarn in gorgeous colours made with 80% acrylic and 20% wool, also from Elle
- Family Knit (Elle) Double Knit in lovely new prints. And so many more!!
This stock will be arriving from mid next week – please come in to have look and touch! Hopefully, by then, our new centre isle counter will be in store to provide much more room in the wall units for all that is on order.
Please remember that the end of this month’s Special is almost over: buy any 20 balls of 25gm yarn (4ply and double knit in Mirage and Classic) and only pay R96-00! That’s a great saving and will get your stash started for winter. Ends 28th February and already some stock items are sold out of these ranges.
As I write, our tally for the squares that have been coming in at an amazing rate, is 1109… this is fantastic and really close to the 1200 minimum we set ourselves to attain! This Saturday and next, we have some ladies coming in who are parents of the Come to Learn Creche in Kurland to help sew squares into baby blankets for the kids there. We need more help with sewing squares together so if you have an hour or two to spare, please pop into wool&more to make magic happen! (You will be rewarded with a sense of achievement and coffee or tea with biscotti!).
A massive THANK YOU to all the gracious and generous ladies who have knitted squares for us. Hugely appreciated!!
Do you know what “tink” means? To tink or “I am tinking”? A clue – it has to do with knitting and nothing to do with thinking!! (see end of newsletter for answer!)
This cartoon reminds me of so many times I have looked at a pattern, loved it, started it and then thought just as Maxine did!
Keep creating and knitting – not only is it fun but also happens to be really good for us all on so many levels!!! Have a look at this link …

Our next newsletter will be sent in a month’s time and will outline more new products and our Special for March.
Until then, take care, be happy and keep smiling!
Kind thoughts

To Tink is a term to describe having to pull out a few stitches or rows of your knitting.
Origination: Spell Knit backwards!!! (As in “oh no, I have to Tink the whole darn row!!”)
