No truth to the rumours…
n reply to the letter ‘Electricity woes revisited’ in CXPRESS of March 21, I can happily say that the rumour you heard of Plett awaiting a 53% hike in electricity prices, is not true. The increase will be in the range of 13-16%, depending on usage.
Bitou Municipality is also not aware of any load-shedding plans by Eskom, and there has been no damage to Plett’s desalination plant as a result of power outages.
If you want to check the facts pertaining to electricity service in future, please feel free to contact Dave Gyngell, manager of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering, on 044 501 3277.
Lemongrass pump station on the mend
In response to the letter ‘Raising a stink’(visit www.cxpress.co.za and click on the Letters page of issue 335), about the sewage stench in the parking lot of Lemongrass restaurant, I apologise on behalf of Bitou Municipality for the slow response.
It now has our full attention and will be dealt with posthaste. The pump station for Lemongrass is falling apart and requires a new pump and panel repair. We anticipate the replacement and repair to be completed by mid-April.
As a reminder to all restaurants in Plett, our Municipal Services department requests that you clean your grease traps frequently, since the grease causes a major problem with pumps.
