Knysna Literary Festival ticket sales open in a week
Tickets for the seventh annual Knysna Literary Festival, which takes place from 17 to 20 March, will go on sale this coming Monday, 1 February.
Tickets can be bought online through www.webtickets.co.za or from the Pam Golding Properties Knysna office at 5 Gray Street.
The full 2016 programme will also be available on the Knysna Literary Festival website,www.knysnaliteraryfestival.co.za from 1 February, and in printed format from Pam Golding Properties Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, and Bargain Books in the Knysna Mall and The Market Square, Plettenberg Bay.
This year’s Knysna Literary Festival promises an enthralling programme of current affairs, politics, history and adventure, centred around best-selling local and international authors, who will entertain and delight audiences with readings, conversations, debates and workshops.
The extremely popular Delicious Word Journey will return as will the annual sell-out event, Fate of the Nation, a riveting panel discussion about the current political climate in South Africa. Ferial Haffajee, editor of the City Press newspaper and previously editor of the Mail & Guardian newspaper will talk to RW Johnston, author of How Long Will South Africa Survive, Mathews Phoza, Chant of Freedom and Songezo Zibi, Raising The Bar.
A children’s interactive programme will include children’s theatre, and the annual Young Writer’s Award, a creative writing competition for various age groups, which attracts entries in English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa.
A fantastic line-up of authors includes Hugh Masekela, whose autobiography, Still Grazing, was released in South Africa last year; Lauren Beukes, author of The Shining Girls, Zoo City (winner of the Arthur C Clarke Award), Moxyland and Broken Monsters; and Pete Goffe-Wood, celebrity chef, MasterChef South Africa judge and author of Kitchen Cowboys and A Life Digested.
