International culinary star to visit Plett
Plett Tourism will be spicing things up this winter when one of television’s hottest international culinary stars heads to the coastal holiday town for the second annual Plett Food and Film Festival.
Known as the UK’s Spice Prince, television chef and owner of one of London’s top restaurants, Reza Mahammad, is set to be the star of this year’s festival grand finale when he hosts a special Indian cooking evening with festival-goers.
The festival is a first of its kind in Africa and stimulates the senses through screenings of world-class films which explore food and everything that goes along with it.
To add to the experience these films are followed by gourmet culinary presentations, linked to the films, by local and international food connoisseurs.
Mahammad, owner and chief chef at the award-winning Star of India restaurant, will share his cooking style – traditional Indian cuisine with Western twists – with festinos after the screening of the Indian romantic film The Lunchbox.
The film involves a young wife trying to spice up her marriage and regain the attention of her husband by preparing special lunches for him.
