Epilepsy SA branch remains open
Following financial trouble early this year and fears that Epilepsy SA’s South Cape and Karroo branch (situated in Knysna) might have to close, manager Anne Fredericks said that thanks to the tenacity of board and staff members the doors of this essential NGO are still open.
At the Garden Route Business Circle’s last breakfast of the year, held at Simola early this month, Fredericks addressed business owners saying, “The global economic recession impacted negatively on our finances too, and a few months ago the closing of the centre was a reality because of financial constraints.”
The board and staff took some difficult decision and fortunately the situation stabilised. “I am humbled, relieved and extremely grateful that we successfully implemented a turn-around strategy and succeeded to recover,” she said. However, to ensure that Epilepsy SA can maintain its services, the organisation relies on help from the public, especially Knysna residents.
