Bitou Mayor unveils new Driving Licence Testing Centre
Great news for Plett locals as the new Driving Licence Testing Centre (DLTC) opens doors, and the testing grounds expected to be complete by mid 2017.
The 10th of January 2017 hailed a landmark victory for the Bitou Municipality and Traffic Department, as they unveiled their new drivers licencing department.
Mayor Peter Lobese started off the ceremony by tossing the soil on the incomplete testing grounds located in Ladywood, opposite New Horizons, which is expected to be complete by middle of 2017.
Locals will no longer have to travel through to Knysna to apply for their driver’s licence.
The new facilities are located in the same building as the Municipal Library in New Horizons. The facilities include the application forms, writing the learners test, recording of fingerprints and eye testing.
Mayor Peter Lobese felt honoured to be a part of the unveiling, as he has been a part of this project since 2008. He mentioned the need for this facility and how it would financially benefit the Bitou Municipality.
Peter Lobese also thanked the Bitou Staff who were present, for their hard work in bringing about a DLTC in Bitou. He remarked on the Bitou Traffic department’s clean track record and reminded them to avoid corruption as this tarnishes the municipality.
