2014 Plett Rage starts this Friday
More than 10 000 school-leavers are on their way to Plettenberg Bay for the annual Plett Rage festival, and accommodation establishments are filled to the brink.
Bookings have been done much in advance this year and the 10-day festival – one of the biggest end-of-school celebrations in the country – will start this Friday, November 28.
The Plett Rage has become one of the biggest annual tourism events on Plett’s calendar.
Peter Wallington, chairman of Plett Tourism, said most accommodation available for the Plett Rage festivities are already booked by August each year. “This year, we had to turn away many youngsters as bookings were coming in straight after last year’s event already.”
With so many under and just over 18s gathering, security is one of parents’ prime concerns. Organisers and authorities are working closely together. Kholiswa Masiza, municipal spokesperson, said safety is a priorty.
“The municipality’s Public Safety Unit and Traffic Department will be working closely with police and other safety forums to maximise safety.”
The complete programme and more information about the festival is available at www.plettrage.co.za.
