Superfoods – The Ultimate Powerhouses by Peter Daniel
The second highly informative talk by Peter Daniel from Rawlicious, Superfoods SA, was held on the 22nd of September 2016 at the Clover Café.
With the rise of chronic human disease and the destruction of our planet’s natural resources – we really need to be conscious of what we are eating and the impact it has on our environment.
In order to achieve longevity and a healthy lifestyle our food needs to be high in nutritional value.
Many of us don’t realise that majority of the food based products we buy in our local stores are actually low in nutrients and high in toxicity, due to pesticides and chemicals used to enhance growth.
This is why it is essential to educate oneself on the various chemicals found in our foods and to check if these are included in the ingredients, which can be viewed on the labels of every product.
A healthy diet consists of organically grown vegetables, fruit, nuts, sprouts, seeds, seaweed, herbs and spices, and for maximum benefit – Superfoods.
Peter’s workshops are aimed at teaching us the benefits of supplementing with Superfoods by covering in depth the top 8:
- Baobab – dietary fibre and calcium.
- Camu Camu – vitamin C and is great for arthritis and depression.
- Hemp – proteins, fibre, vitamins and minerals.
- Goji Berries – proteins, minerals, Omegas and antioxidants.
- Spirulina – proteins, vitamins and minerals.
- Raw Cacao – magnesium, antioxidant and anti-depressant
- Chia seeds – high plant based Omega3, calcium and fibre.
- Maca – balances hormones, increases energy and is great for infertility.
Once you discover the nutritional value gained by eating Superfoods and begin to feel the effects, it will be difficult to look back.
If you think Superfoods are too expensive – think again. Superfoods are a high concentrate and therefore you only need to consume a small quantity at a time. You won’t feel inclined to binge, saving you on many unnecessary costs and in the long run you’ll be saving yourself from astronomical doctors’ bills. So a little investment now goes, a long way!
Thank you to Peter Daniel from Rawlicious and Philippa Glazer from The Learning Circle for a very insightful talk and to Clover Café for hosting the event.
