Plett Music Festival 2017 making a difference!
The Kids of Kurland School Project’s fourth Plett Music Festival, took place at The White House Theatre from the 23rd till the 26th of February 2017.
This outstanding annual event has contributed significantly to the resources at the Kurland Primary School, where classes are filled to the brim with up to 60 students per class. There are too few teachers for the number of children attending this school, and this leaves no hope for the children with special needs or talents.
Kurland village is situated 20 km from Plettenberg Bay and due to its remoteness, there is a high incidence of unemployment, alcoholism, domestic violence and HIV.
The Kids Of Kurland School Project was established in 2001 to assist the children of this community and have raised funds over the years and currently employs two teachers, a special needs teacher and a part time social worker.
This years Plett Music Festival had an exciting line-up of new performers and a variety of music which appealed to varied tastes.
Plett All Stars was held at the White house on Saturday night and Plett definitely has amazing talent. The audiences were treated to gospel, soul, opera, folk, rap, choral and so much more. A big thank you goes out to the MC – well-known Erez Shaked, who kept the audience entertained and who travelled through from from Cape Town especially for this occasion.
All the proceeds made went to The Kids of Kurland School Project.
