Goose Valley Ladies @ Home “Swing with Bling” Day
Goose Valley Ladies @ Home “Swing with Bling” Day was held on the 4th May 2017.
Goose Valley’s Ladies @ Home Day is one of the Ladies Section’s most important events of the year and careful planning coupled with much assistance from the Goose Valley members resulted in a very successful event.
The field was FULL with 104 ladies wearing their “swing with bling” outfits and playing in perfect weather conditions, it all went very smoothly. We really appreciate that golfers from clubs Humewood, Pinnacle Point, Pezula, Simola, George, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay joined us, thanks to all players (Goose Valley members too!). For those travelling from afar, Gail Wall of the Whaling Station generously provided one night’s accommodation for golfers to rest their weary heads.
The day is not just about a successful golf event, for us it is also seen as an opportunity to raise funds for CANSA. In today’s times the assistance and expertise delivered by this organisation is extremely valuable to our community and we are so grateful to all those individuals and companies who provided some form of sponsorship. Barbie representing CANSA gave the ladies some information on the type of services they provide. We are thrilled to report that an amount of R14,680 will be donated to CANSA from the success of the day!
These funds for CANSA were raised from the sponsoring of tee boxes and greens, as well as from the alcohol hamper; funds were also raised by our Head Pro Richard Lee who for the small sum of R20 hit your drive on the 11th tee – then it was up to you to make the birdie! Thank you Richard for your assistance, as well as that of the Pro Shop team, its always great working with you!
Thanks to Emma and her team at The Verandah for the delicious food and great service. And the welcome eats were “amazing”, thanks to the Goose Valley members who provided these; much appreciation is extended to all those who made donations to the pamper hamper, the alcohol hamper and prizes.
