Exhibition with well-known SA artists
Two artists with deep roots in Plettenberg Bay are collaborating with respected SA artist Andre Naude for their first local exhibition.
The exhibition, Canvas & Things, opened at The White House venue on Wednesday, January 6 and showcases the work of Martin de Kock, Elzabe Malan and Naude.
The show will be open to the public every day from Monday to Saturday between 10.30am and 7.30pm until January 15.
While each artist has their own style, the three’s works complement one another. Naude has been involved in art, from painting and educating to judging national art competitions and curating, for more than three decades and he has had a vast number of solo exhibitions – both in South Africa and abroad.
He is a contemporary artist who “loves form and colour”.
De Kock and Malan’s paths crossed while learning from Naude in Pretoria. Both were his students.
Malan completed a degree in fine arts in 1975, but only began painting in earnest about seven years ago. Influenced by impressionism, she paints in oil and acrylics, and her works include landscapes and portraits.
De Kock is a graphic designer by trade, but he has been painting for more than 20 years and has also participated in several solo and group exhibitions in South Africa and abroad. He too enjoys oil as a medium and his art is contemporary and impressionistic, mostly portraits and landscapes.
